What to bring to a Thanksgiving PotluckPosted on November 21, 2012 by Nikki.
If you are a guest to a Thanksgiving potluck, hopefully you and your host figured out who is responsible to bring what. If not, here are a few ideas so you don’t have to walk in empty-handed.
1. Dinner Rolls
You can always bring [more] dinner rolls. They can be used as appetizers or eaten during the Thanksgiving meal itself, so it's hard to have too many.
Can you ever have too many cookies? Cookies can be eaten during dessert, but they will also last for a few days should dessert already be provided.
Salad can always be eaten before the big meal. Just be sure not to put dressing on the salad beforehand. Always bring dressing separately, otherwise the lettuce can get soggy. Even if others bring salad, you can always just pick and choose and try lots of different salads.
Wine is almost always a reliable choice if you can’t decide on something else to bring or are worried about having too much food.
Last but certainly not least, flowers are also almost always a good choice to bring to the hostess of the party. They brighten up the atmosphere and will last well beyond the Thanksgiving festivities. Your hosts will be able to enjoy them for at least a week.
Finally, there was a reason you were invited to the Thanksgiving get-together, so just your presence alone would be appreciated if you don't have time to get anything. Remember, Thanskgiving is a time to be thankful for what you have and just appreciate your family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
