Foothill College is hosting a guest lecture, “Astronomy From the Stratosphere.” On March 6 from 7-8:30pm, Dana Backman, Ph.D., of the SETI Institute, will discuss NASA’s SOFIA Mission. It is an illustrated, non-technical lecture so everyone will be able to enjoy it. SOFIA is the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, an incredible telescope that has returned information about birth of stars, interstellar chemistry, the atmospheres of giant planets, the environment around supermassive black holes, and other branches of astronomy. Admission is free but is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This lecture will be held at Foothill’s Smithwick Theatre, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.
